Installing GNS3 version 1.2.3 in windows 7

GNS3 is a really powerful Graphical network simulator which is used as an alternative to real computer network labs. It provides an environment as close as possible to real world scenarios. Today we will discuss about details of getting started with gns3.

Gns3 is freely downloadable from their website i.e.,  www.gns3.com. After you have downloaded the latest version of gns3. The next step is it's installation. It's plain and smiple.

First of all download gns3 all in one version for windows from their official website.



Then start the installation which more or less looks like as shown in images below


Press next button to continue


Accept the license agreement



Press Next again after entering whatever name you like your gns3 installation to accessed by


Check all options except solar wind response. Check it if you want but it's not really important


Choose the folder you want to install gns3 in and press install


simply press next again


The installer will install winpcap. It might give you a warning in case winpcap is already installed, In that case you can choose if you want to install again or not




After winpcap is installed gns3 installation will resume


then it will install wireshark. 


I had solar winds checked in step 4 so it popped up here. I just cancelled it


 after installation is complete you can press next and then fnish. and gns3 is ready to be used in your computer now


run the gns3 from start menu or desktop icon
